Lulu Lytle Q&A

What do you most like about your work?
Collaborating with ingenious craftsmen to develop new ideas and occasionally being able to indulge in whimsy to create something really joyful.

Where would you most like to live and why?
On a floating library on the Aegean sea so that I can swim between chapters and sail into Istanbul for museums, minarets, markets and mayhem.

What would you love to collect – money no object?
An awful lot of things from huge scale Pharaonic Egyptian statuary and Roman mosaics to Middle Eastern textiles and representations of camels in all art forms.

What do you most dislike in design and furniture?
Meanness of scale; shoddy craftsmanship and feature walls.

Which designer do you most admire?
Working today; Jaime Parlade in Spain; Axel Vervoordt in Belgium; Studio Peregalli in Italy and Mark D Sikes and Daniel Romualdez in America.

If your home burnt down and you could only carry out one thing, what would it be?
What a hideous dilemma but I think it would have to be the portrait of our children piled high with photo albums carried by all 5 of us.
